The MAU-SNBA Artist-in-Residence Program will host 30 artists in 2027, double the number from the program’s first year. Applications for the first of next year’s three sessions are open through November 15.

MAU—the Taguspark Museum of Urban Art—and SNBA—the National Society of Fine Arts—are expanding the number of artists accepted for each edition to ten. This marks the biggest increase since the program’s launch in 2025, which began with four projects in its first edition and reached nine in the sixth edition, currently underway. In total, the Artist-in-Residence program has hosted 39 projects.

Applications are now being accepted for the three editions in 2027:

  • 7th edition, from January to April; applications due by November 15, 2026
  • 8th edition, from May to August; applications due by March 15, 2027
  • 9th edition, from September to December; applications due by July 15, 2027

Lasting four months, the residencies offer a free workspace in the heart of Cidade do Conhecimento, where artists—whether individuals or collectives—can deepen their artistic practice around a theme specified in their application. We are seeking multidisciplinary proposals, which may encompass drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, video, multimedia sound, installation, writing, and performance.

Applications must be submitted via email to ra@taguspark.pt, including the following information:

  • Updated portfolio
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Theme to be explored in the project
  • Motivations for residency
  • Specify the desired edition

You can view the rules HERE.

The selected artists will be contacted directly, and the results will be announced through Taguspark's media channels.
