The Taguspark gardens have a new art installation. Umbra is made up of 200 wooden squares, with a 3m edge, which create the illusion of a curve and have the ability to create a unique ambience of shadows and light, which allows the visitor to momentarily abstract from the surrounding space. A project by the Rethorica Studio group, it now joins the City of Knowledge's urban art itinerary and can be visited daily in Oeiras.

"The Umbra urban art piece is another milestone in the urban art museum being developed at Taguspark, which already has works by different artists spread across various spaces. Art and culture are part of the project we are developing at the City of Knowledge. "We want this space, with its unique location, to foster well-being and happiness," says Eduardo Baptista Correia, CEO of Taguspark.

Umbra is an installation in the gardens of Taguspark's Innovation Buildings. It consists of two pieces and is made by rotating each square around a master plan, creating the illusion of a curve.

Through these wooden structures with unexpected geometries, the aim is to create a unique ambience of shadows and light that allows the visitor to momentarily abstract from the surrounding space.

"Action on an object can change the perception of it". This is how Rethorica Studio defines the piece, which makes the visitor question its construction.

Rethorica Studio was set up in 2015 by four students working in the fields of architecture, design and illustration. It is an atelier whose basis of study is architecture, but whose action embraces different creative arts. They have already worked on several architectural, interior, graphic and furniture design projects, as well as taking part in various national and international events, such as AURA, Boom Festival, Web Summit, Loures Arte Pública and Village Underground. The group is currently made up of Pedro Pereira, Miguel Madrinha and Vasco Duque.
