If you visit Taguspark - City of Knowledge between now and the end of the month, chances are you'll come across a lion or an elephant... made out of slippers.

The result of a partnership between United to Remake, a Portuguese social innovation start-up recently integrated into the Taguspark Incubator, and the NGO Ocean Sole, the exhibition "From Sea Garbage to Art" presents a set of 27 works of art created from rubber flip-flops found in the ocean. With free admission, it will be on display at the Taguspark Central Center in Oeiras from May 10 until May 31, 2022.

Among the new inhabitants of the Taguspark ecosystem are elephants, fish, giraffes and even lions created by artisans in Kenya, where Ocean Sole is based, from slippers found in the sea. In the last year, this sustainable project has recycled more than 1 million slippers and created nearly 100 direct jobs.

The exhibition "From Sea Garbage to Art", which opened on May 10, can be visited until May 31, Monday to Saturday from 9am to 7pm, except on public holidays.

This project was born out of a partnership between United to Remake, which aims to work on new forms of recycling and upcycling, and Ocean Sole, an NGO based in Kenya that works to transform discarded flip-flops caught in the sea and rivers into works of art.

The presence of arts and culture at Taguspark - Cidade do Conhecimento is part of the context of MAU - Museu de Arte Urbana, which aims to promote critical thinking and is an invitation to reflect on today's society.
