Projects will be developed in the collaborative and dynamic environment that Taguspark enjoys on a daily basis.

MAU - Museu de Arte Urbana do Taguspark and SNBA - Sociedade Nacional de Belas-Artes have concluded the selection process for the first edition of the MAU-SNBA Artist Residencies.

From three dozen applications, four artists were chosen who reflect the disruptive, bold and urban spirit that defines the City of Knowledge: Beatriz Uva, Elisa Ochoa, Maria Savchenko and Tatyana Cristina.

Beatriz Uva, with a sustainable approach, reuses materials whenever possible, combining painting and collages with elements such as canvas, paper, paints and pens. At the Residency, she intends to create interactive paintings that invite visitors to explore their surroundings, combining elements of nature with abstract forms.

Inspired by the ethnography of objects, stories and personal archives of places, Elisa Ochoa investigates collective memory and cultural identity in a landscape context. During the residency, her mission will be to create a continuous dialog between the past and the present of the Oeiras coastline, based on the scientific knowledge that exists and the human testimonies found, building a narrative link between the temporal layers of the landscape.

Maria Savchenko combines abstract painting with expressive representational art. In the MAU-SNBA Artist Residency, she intends to develop a visual narrative that stimulates reflections on how objects shape our understanding of space and time.

Tatyana Cristina 's paintings explore the duality between restrained and explosive gestures. During the residency, she will create a series of large-format paintings that investigate the concept of Art and Medicine, reinterpreting and plastically exploring surgical boxes/cases from the 19th century, in an innovative and provocative approach.

The MAU-SNBA Artist Residencies are part of the protocol established between Taguspark and the Sociedade Nacional de Belas-Artes, which aims to foster collaboration in art exhibitions and the development of artist residencies, courses and workshops in the City of Knowledge.

For Eduardo Baptista Correia, CEO of Taguspark, the initiative reinforces the role of culture in the creative and human development of the Park: "Culture is a cornerstone of Taguspark and represents a dynamic project in expansion, which acts as a stimulus to creativity and personal development for all the Park's inhabitants. Welcoming four artists, identified from among 30, to develop their work at the House of Arts & Science underlines the disruptive, bold and urban spirit that we experience on a daily basis in this place of brilliant people."

João Paulo Queiroz, president of the Sociedade Nacional de Belas-Artes, highlights the impact of this first edition of the Residencies: "This first edition of MAU-SNBA Artist Residencies allows us to create opportunities for artists, while reflecting the celebration between art, science and culture, and promoting a space for learning and discovery."

With this partnership, Taguspark and SNBA consolidate the role of art as a central element in creating an innovative and stimulating environment, promoting interaction between different disciplines and inspiring the community of the City of Knowledge.
