Once upon a time... there was an Indian girl called Pocahontas who belonged to the Powhatan tribe in Virginia, on the North American continent. Pocahontas was a very sweet girl, but very independent and rebellious, a real headache for her father, Chief Powhatan. There were troubled times in the Indian tribe and throughout the continent, due to the invasion of the English settlers, who were taking over the Powhatan lands. One day, several settlers were captured by the natives and Grand Chief Powhatan sentenced them to death. They were to be executed the following moon.
At the exact moment of the execution, Pocahontas interrupted the ceremony and begged her father not to commit barbarism; according to her, violence would only generate more hatred and violence. Chief Powhatan granted his daughter's request.
Among the colonists sentenced to death was John Smith who, after having his life spared, swears eternal friendship to the Indians, especially Pocahontas. From this friendship will emerge an intense love story, which will come up against racial prejudice between two peoples with different motivations.
