The non-profit organization is marking the month of the elderly in Oeiras, at Taguspark - Cidade do Conhecimento, where walks are held for the elderly and people with reduced mobility. The walks are carried out with the support of several volunteers, including several Novartis Portugal employees.
Pedaling Without Age is part of an international movement that combats the unwanted loneliness and social isolation of seniors and people with reduced mobility. Pedal Without Age is not just about bicycles, mobility or sustainability. It's about human relationships and generosity towards those who don't have access to life's little pleasures.
This initiative also has the support of Café Joyeux, the first family of cafés/restaurants to employ and train young adults with intellectual and developmental difficulties. They are already the official café of the AGEAS group, have a café/restaurant open to the public, and will be opening new locations soon.
For Eduardo Baptista Correia, CEO of Taguspark, "initiatives such as Pedal Without Age contribute to more active ageing and community integration, in line with Taguspark's DNA."
