Brazil's elections through the eyes of photojournalist João Porfírio in an exhibition at Taguspark.
“Brasis. Brazil in 65 images” presents a collection of photographs documenting Brazil’s last presidential elections. Taken by photojournalist João Porfírio, the exhibition portrays the various “Brasils” that coexist in a single country.
These photographs will be on display at the Taguspark Central Hub from March 2 to April 22.
For 35 days, photojournalist João Porfírio and journalist Carlos Diogo Santos traveled to various parts of Brazil, reporting for the Observador newspaper and radio station, and documented the political and cultural differences that coexist in the country.
They visited six states—Rio de Janeiro, Amazonas, São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul, the Federal District (Brasília), and Bahia—and from there they painted a picture of the "Brazils" that coexist in a single country. This reality is essential to understanding how 208 million people live, from the big cities to the interior of the Amazon, from the favelas to the paradisiacal beaches.
How can this Brazil be described? What are these “Brazils”? The answers, through the lens of João Porfírio, will be on display at the Taguspark Central Hub and are part of the program of the MAU – Museum of Urban Art, which aims to promote critical thinking and contribute to the well-being of those who visit and work in the City of Knowledge.
