"The green spaces that surround the Park's diverse architecture were a huge inspiration for the creation of these pieces. The idea for the second piece we installed, the Partridges, followed on from the installation of the Squirrel, because we came across a family of partridges during the operation."''

The squirrel is part of a series of works by artist Bordalo II called Big Trash Animals, which aims to draw attention to a current problem related to the production of garbage, waste, pollution and its effects on our planet. The Portuguese artist's aim is to take a different look at our habits. The idea is to represent an image of nature, in this case animals, constructed with what destroys it. The animals used are local species, extinct species or endangered species.
